Parent and Child Aquatics
Developed for children 6 months to 2 years, Parent and Child Aquatics helps young children get ready to swim by emphasizing fun in the water. Parents and children participate in several guided practice sessions that help kids learn elementary swimming skills, including water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, underwater exploration, and more.
In Level 1, children learn basic skills through fun activities, such as blowing bubbles and playing with water toys.
In Level 2 parents work with their children to pracitce floating, kicking, and swimming back to the side of the pool. Class Meets: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 noon to 12:50 pm. This class runs from June 26 to July 19. Parents are required to be in the water. The minimum required number of participants for this class is 10. The registration deadline is Thursday, June 21. Fee: YMCA Member $20.00 Non-YMCA Member $25.00
Children ages 3 and 5 learn water safety, survival skills and builds the foundation of swimming concepts in a safe and fun environment. Skills are age-appropriate, allowing students to achieve success on a regular basis.
Level 1 helps children become comfortable in the water and basic water safety; Level 2 builds on Level 1 and introduces fundamental skills, such as kicking and builds on Level 1; Level 3 focuses on coordinating arm and leg movements and improving upon skills learned in Level 1 and Level 2.
Class Meets; Monday through Friday for two weeks. Class times: 9:00 am to 9:50 am; 10:00 am to 10:50 am and 11:00 am to 11:50 am. The registration deadline is the Thursday before the beginning of a session (see session dates below) Fee: YMCA Member $30.00 Non-YMCA Member $35.00
