Recycling & Yard Waste Collection

2018 Recycling Yard Waste Trash Route

On Wednesdays, every other week recyclables and yard waste are picked up. In an effort to improve the recycling program in the City of Fort Madison, the city and Great River Regional Waste Authority have partnered to make the following changes.

Residents who participate in the recycling program will be required to place their recycling items in a GRRWA recycling bin or they can choose to use their own garbage can/cart for recycling (no larger than 40 gallons). The use of your own garbage can/cart for recycling must have a blue square painted on the side and "RECYCLING" painted in white over the blue square.

Residents who are new or would like a recycling bin from GRRWA can pick up their free 18- gallon recycling bin at the GRRWA at 2091 303rd Avenue (across from Tri-State Rodeo Arena). Residents must present a current City of Fort Madison water bill to receive their free recycling bin. There is a fee for any additional recycling bin needed.  Recyclables can be in either in the GRRWA recycling bin or your garbage can/cart, which will need to be properly labeled.

Place your recycling and yard waste items, where you normally place your trash for collection. Yard waste runs spring, summer, and fall. Recycling collection is year-round.
