The City of Fort Madison and the University of Iowa's Institute of Public Affairs are pleased to announce a new training program for all City of Fort Madison board and commission members. The program will be held on Thursday, November 8 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Fort Madison Community Hospital Business Center, 5445 Avenue O, Fort Madison, Iowa. This two-hour program will present the basic laws and concepts that apply to local government boards and commissions. Topics include: Legal Requirements: Open Meetings Law; Public Records Law; Gift Law; Conflicts-of-Interest; Purchasing and Contracts; Other Important Laws.
