[ARCHIVED] Light Up the Sky this 4th of July

Riverview Park will light up on July 4th with another spectacular display launched by J & M Displays. Firework show will start at dark, approximately 9:30 pm though the exact time will be decided by the firework launcher and their determination of darkness.

Please take note of some viewing changes this year due to the construction projects taking place in the downtown area.
  • The fireworks will be launched from the frontage road along the Mississippi in Riverview Park.  That walking path will be closed all day.
  • The Sixth Street entrance to the park will remain open for boaters to access the marina and safely launch their boats, but will be closed before the show starts for safety.
  • Business 61 will be closed from 2nd to 6th Street to vehicular traffic. However, viewers will be able to sit on the newly finished section of highway during the presentation.
  • Due to liability concerns, the construction zone from 6th Street to 10th Street, and the Pen City parking lot, are not available as viewing locations and attendees are asked to not go past the barricades or be near the construction equipment.

This will be the 13th year that Fort Madison Partners (the combined efforts of the Chamber of Commerce, EDC, and FM SIRRC), Beautification Foundation and Sports Complex will coordinate the display along with J&M Displays and the City of Fort Madison.
