Board/Commission Spotlight:  The City of Fort Madison is seeking one person to fill a vacancy on the Fort Madison Board of Adjustment. The purpose of this board is to provide a body to safeguard the most appropriate development of the community in accordance with the public interest. Duties include review of variance requests to adjust code requirements because of unique conditions and review of Special Use Permits to grant permission to unique uses allowed only after review. This Board meets at 6:00 P.M. on the second Wednesday of each month at Fort Madison City Hall (unless otherwise scheduled). Members must live inside Fort Madison City Limits. The Board is a five-member board with each term of office shall be five years.

Applications can be found at www.fortmadison-ia.com or through the City Clerk’s office at 811 Avenue E.  This application process is an effort to ensure diversity and representation of our community.  Interested persons should submit completed applications to the City Clerk’s office during regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.   All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.  These are uncompensated positions.  All applications are subject to the open records laws of the State of Iowa.
