City of Fort Madison - Lead Service Line Inventory
The City of Fort Madison is required by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to develop a Lead Service Line Inventory report.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Lead and Copper Rule Revision (LCRR) indicates that all Community Water Supplies (CWS) must develop a Lead Service Line Inventory (LSL Inventory) by October 16, 2024 and submit it to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (Iowa DNR). The LSL Inventory allows the City of Fort Madison to assess the extent of the lead service lines within our system, identify better sampling locations, and allow planning for lead service line replacements.
The city must identify the type of material used for your service line and interior plumbing, the estimated age of the plumbing, and if your structure has a water softener or a water filter system, regardless of ownership status. Please complete the questionnaire to the best of your ability. The questionnaire can be completed online. You can also pick up a copy at city hall or print out a copy and return it to City Hall, 811 Avenue E, Fort Madison, IA or via email to jcullen@fortmadison-ia.com.
The Fort Madison Water Department greatly appreciates your assistance with the development of the Lead Service Line Inventory. Your information is crucial to the completion of this report, so we ask that you return the questionnaire with a sense of urgency.
Sincerely,
