[ARCHIVED] Festival of Lights Detours and Street Closures

Police Chief Bruce Niggemeyer has released the following information regarding the detours and street closures related to the first-ever Fort Madison Festival of Lights on Nov. 29, at 6:30 p.m., in Riverview Park.

Beginning at 4 p.m. the Street Department will erect detour signs at Second Street and Avenue E as well as 10th Street and Avenue H. Vehicular traffic will not be permitted on Avenue H from Fourth Street to 10th Street, beginning at 4 p.m. until the end of the Festival of Lights.

Event organizers have asked for the street closure in order to allow the citizens an area to watch the lighting of the floats in the park. Organizers plan to have a laser light show and fireworks during the festival and believe the best view will be from Avenue H instead of in Riverview Park.
